Driving Courses


B+E: Car and trailer – Legislative changes to the licensing system require anyone who passed their car driving test after 1 st January 1997 (25yrs old or younger) to obtain a separate licence in order for them to tow a trailer with a maximum authorised mass (MAM) exceeding 750kg.

Requirement:

Students need to hold a full car licence - category ‘B' entitlement.

 

Duration:

1½ days, commencing 8:30am, with test on 2nd day.

 

Test criteria: Five questions on basic vehicle checks.
Reversing exercise into a marked bay.
Controlled brake test.
Approx. 1 hour driving including hill starts / town / motorway driving.
Uncoupling / Re-coupling exercise.

LGV ‘C': LGV licence entitlement (Formally HGV Class 2) - Rigid lorry over 7.5T
Requirement:

Students need to hold a full car licence - category B entitlement, and a provisional Class ‘C' entitlement. Students will also need to have passed an LGV Medical and Theory Test.

 

Duration:

5 days, commencing 8:30am, with test on 5th day.

 

Test criteria:

Five questions on basic vehicle checks.
Reversing exercise into a marked bay.
Controlled brake test.
Gear change exercise.
Approx. 1 hour driving including hill starts / town / motorway driving.

LGV ‘C+E': LGV licence entitlement (Formally HGV Class 1 - Artic)
Duration :

5 days, commencing 8:30am, with test on 5 th day.

 

Requirement:

Students need to hold a full LGV Class ‘C' licence

 

Test criteria:

Five questions on basic vehicle checks.
Reversing exercise into a marked bay.
Controlled brake test.
Gear change exercise.
Approx. 50mins driving including hill starts / town / motorway driving.
Uncoupling / re-coupling exercise.

RTITB Forklift Courses, Counterbalance, Sideloader & Reach
Standards:

As laid down by RTITB Services in accordance with the Health and Safety Commission Approved Code of Practice for Rider Operator Lift Trucks (ACOP L117).

 

Structure:

The courses are conducted at our centre, or on your premises, on an Instructor / Machine / Trainee ratio as set down by RTITB Services recommended course structures.

 

Content: Pre-shift inspections.
Truck stability when operating.
Replenishing power sources.
Pallet and load stacking.
Vehicle loading.
Working in warehouse racking.
Working in confined areas.
Hydraulic systems.
Written theory test.
Practical skills test.

ALLMI Accredited - Lorry Mounted Crane (HIAB) course
Standards: A nationally accredited course as set by The Association of Lorry Loader Manufacturers and Importers (ALLMI).

Objectives: To give candidates sufficient training for them to acquire the necessary standard of theoretical knowledge, practicable skills to operate a lorry loader safely and efficiently. To achieve certification as evidence of competence, knowledge and skill ability.

Structure:

The courses are conducted at our centre, or on your premises. We offer either a 2-day course for novices or 1-day course for experienced candidates, certificates are valid for 5-years.

Components & loader configurations.
Pre-operational checks.
Operator maintenance.
Lifting attachments.
Safe sitting of loader, ground conditions & services.
Deployment of stabiliser legs.
Use of controls.
Preparation for use.
